Q: What’s Southwest^® promotional Companion Pass?

A: A promotional Companion Pass earned through this offer allows you to designate one person to fly with, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way), on flights purchased and flown between January 6, 2025 and March 6, 2025.

Q: Does a flight I booked prior to registration count toward qualification for the Companion Pass promotion?

A: No. Qualifying flights must be booked after you register, between September 3-5, 2024.

Q: What will happen after I meet the requirements to earn promotional Companion Pass through this offer?

A: Once you qualify for promotional Companion Pass (meaning you registered, booked, and traveled on a qualifying round trip or two one-way flight(s) during the applicable dates specified in the promotional terms and conditions) we’ll send an email within 10 days. This email lets you know you qualified (woo-hoo!) and includes information on next steps and how to designate and utilize the promotional Companion Pass.

Q: When can I designate my Companion after earning promotional Companion Pass through this offer?

A: You’ll be able to designate a Companion after the promotional Companion Pass is awarded to your account (January 6, 2025).

Q: How can I designate my initial Companion and make changes to my Companion?

A: After the promotional Companion Pass is awarded to your account (January 6, 2025), you can designate your initial Companion within My Account on Southwest.com® or by calling Southwest at 1-800-435-9792. To change your Companion, you must call 1-800-435-9792.

Q: How many times can I change my designated Companion?

A: You may change your designated Companion up to three times during the promotional Companion Pass period. If you achieve Companion Pass in 2024 by earning 135,000 Companion Pass qualifying points or flying 100 qualifying flights, any changes to the designated Companion during the time you have a promotional Companion Pass will reduce the number of changes you can make to your designated Companion in the 2025 calendar year. For example, if you earned a promotional Companion Pass through this promotion, changed your designated Companion twice during the validity period for promotional Companion Pass, and then later in 2025 earned a Companion Pass, you would only be able to change your designated Companion one more time in 2025.

Q: If I book a reservation prior to January 6, 2025 for travel between January 6-March 6, 2025, when can I book my Companion’s reservation?

A: After the promotional Companion Pass has been awarded to your account (January 6, 2025), and you’ve designated your Companion, you can book your Companion’s reservation (subject to flight capacity and availability at the time of booking the promotional Companion Pass).

Q: What changes to a reservation would disqualify a flight from qualifying for promotional Companion Pass through this offer?

A: Any change to a reservation that falls outside of the promotional requirements (enrollment date, booking date, travel date, etc.) will disqualify the flight from this promotion. In other words, flights must be purchased, and/or changed during the promotional period and the new flight(s) must be flown between September 3-November 20, 2024 to meet the terms and conditions of this promotion.

Terms and conditions

Register for this promotion, then book one round trip or two one-way qualifying Southwest^;® flights between 8:00 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) on September 3, 2024 and 11:59 p.m. CT on September 5, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”) for travel from September 3, 2024 to November 20, 2024 (the "Travel Period"), and fly during the Travel Period to earn a promotional Companion Pass^® valid for use between January 6, 2025 and March 6, 2025.

To register for this promotion, you will need to provide your Southwest Rapid Rewards^® account number at the time of registration. If you do not have a Rapid Rewards^® account number, you may register for an account by going online to Southwest.com/rapidrewards to become a Member. Rapid Rewards accounts are free. Member must register for this promotion, book one round trip or two one-way qualifying Southwest flights during the Promotion Period for travel during the Travel Period, and fly during the Travel Period. Registration must be completed prior to booking and commencement of travel. Valid on new qualifying flights booked during the Promotion Period for travel during the Travel Period and flown within the Travel Period. Member's qualifying flight must be booked through Southwest.com or swabiz.com during the Promotion Period for travel that must be completed during the Travel Period. Member's Rapid Rewards account number must be entered at the time of booking Member's qualifying flight to earn a promotional Companion Pass valid for use between January 6, 2025 and March 6, 2025. A qualifying one-way flight for this promotion is a one-way flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines. A qualifying round trip flight for this promotion is a round trip flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal. Valid on new reservations booked within the Promotion Period for travel during the Travel Period only. Travel booked or flown prior to registration for this promotion is not eligible for this promotional Companion Pass offer. Reward travel and Cash + Points bookings qualify for this promotional offer. Cash + Points bookings will not earn Rapid Rewards points, tier qualifying points for A-List or A-List Preferred status or Companion Pass qualifying points. Companion Pass, charter flights, group travel, and Southwest Vacations^® packages do not qualify as one-way or round trip flights for this promotion. Changes made to any itinerary after purchase of a one-way or round trip flight may eliminate qualification for this promotion. The promotional Companion Pass is valid from January 6, 2025 through March 6, 2025 and allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on flights purchased by you, booked through Southwest, and completed between January 6, 2025 and March 6, 2025. No Rapid Rewards points nor tier or Companion Pass qualifying points will be awarded for flights taken by the Companion when flying on a promotional Companion Pass or Companion Pass reservation. You may change your designated Companion up to three times while you have promotional Companion Pass. If you earn Companion Pass in 2024 by earning 135,000 Companion Pass qualifying points or flying 100 qualifying flights, any changes to your designated Companion during the time you have a promotional Companion Pass will reduce the number of changes you can make to your designated Companion in the 2025 calendar year. For example, if you earn a promotional Companion Pass through this promotion, change your designated Companion twice during the validity period for promotional Companion Pass, and later in 2025 earn Companion Pass, you would only be able to change your designated Companion one more time in 2025. Companion Pass is nontransferable. All Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply and can be found at Southwest.com/rrterms. Southwest reserves the right to amend, suspend, or change the Rapid Rewards program and/or Rapid Rewards program rules at any time without notice. Rapid Rewards Members do not acquire property rights in accrued points. The number of points needed for a particular Southwest flight is set by Southwest and will vary depending on destination, time, day of travel, demand, fare type, point redemption rate, and other factors, and is subject to change at any time until the booking is confirmed.
