Icelandair Southwest partnership

More horizons on the horizon.

We're launching the first of our international partnerships starting with Icelandair® in February 2025. Customers will be able to book connecting Southwest® flights through Icelandair and third-party booking channels. We expect to add at least one additional partner in the next year, and this is just the beginning!

Dates for Icelandair partnership.

  • Beginning February 13, our interlining partnership will connect Customers and bags crossing the Atlantic on Icelandair into the Southwest network at Baltimore/Washington (BWI) Airport.
  • Initially, we will flow Customers onto the Southwest network through Icelandair’s website and approved third-party booking channels.
  • Our phased partnership later will bring our shared itineraries to Southwest.com and other Southwest-side booking channels.
  • Eventually, we will aim to offer benefits in Customer Experience and loyalty through Southwest Rapid Rewards® and Icelandair Saga Club.
UPDATE JAN 2025

Additional gateways for Icelandair partnership.

  • As our partnership launches and evolves, later this year we’ll connect Icelandair into our network through two additional gateways in Denver and Nashville, with future connection points planned at other airports where our networks overlap.
  • The partnership is designed to offer dynamic connections through shared gateways based on the then-current flight schedules of each carrier; as additional gateways come online in the U.S., Customers will gain exponential access to new destinations and itineraries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Southwest’s first partner carrier will be Icelandair®, and our first gateway city will be Baltimore/Washington (BWI) starting on February 13, 2025. We expect to expand to additional gateway cities later this year. We are pursuing both transatlantic and transpacific partners and plan to at least announce one additional partner carrier in 2025.

Icelandair shares our commitment to Safety, an excellent Customer Experience, and Hospitality. There are many similarities between our Company Cultures as well. Icelandair has a broad network that will connect Customers from more than 50 European gateways into the Southwest network, including Reykjavik, London, Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Rome, and more.

When we initially launch airline partnerships, we will not have integrated loyalty programs with partner carriers. As we move to future phases of this effort, we will begin working to integrate the Rapid Rewards loyalty program as part of our value proposition.
